Gypsy Horses are a compact draft-type horse built to pull Gypsy caravans and bred to be friendly and docile for the Gypsy children. They range in size from 14 hands to 15.3. Colorful black and white pinto markings predominate the breed, although Gypsy Horses can be found in a variety of colors including, red pinto, bay pinto, gray pinto, and solid black or solid white. One of their most distinctive features is their flowing manes and tails and fully feathered legs. The Gypsy Horse is a rare breed in the United States. There are many names for these wonderful horses - Gypsy Vanner, Gypsy Cob, Gypsy Horse, and Coloured Cob, among others - but they all refer to the same strong and colorful breed of caravan horses. Bred for hundreds of years by the Romany people (Gypsies) in the U.K. and Ireland, their bloodlines are well established. BUY AMERICAN born and bred horses! My stock, which is perhaps some of the finest you will find, is born and bred right here on my ranch in USA, from excellent foundation sires and dams. The US dollar is not what it used to be. Gas and fuel, hay etc are way high. Imported horse costs are out of site. The quarantine-hauling-shipping costs will be most of what one pays for. Additionally, the quality coming out of Europe is NOT as it was! The truly finest gypsy imports came to USA several years ago and what you are seeing for the most part now does not compare. The offspring from those foundation horses are HERE-USA! Buyers Beware: Watch out for the famous used car lot tactics. They can put a teaser out at X amount and say it sold-just when you, the buyer, called, but here is another just a few thousand dollars more. Do research in our own backyard so to speak. DEALERS are DEALERS & make their $$$$ by buying in masses therefore, discounted and selling HIGH. Pony mills are UNETHICAL, the DEALER makes a fine profit and sends these poor animals over ripped from their dams-pushed and manhandled-BUYER deal with reputable high class breeders. Horses come in from overseas NOT anywhere near what they were represented to be, losing foals-malnourished and the stories go on. I do not price gouge my horses. I am a breeder NOT a DEALER, I have been standing and owning, competing and loving horses since before the 60's and can WELL afford to be fair to the public! DVD's are available! |
